Janwaar Castle is a learning camp with a skatepark at its core. It's a social experiment and the goal is to transform the village of Janwaar into a wealthier and more prosperous place.

Shivraj aka Dr. Kouch Kouch has received a scholarship from Sanjoy Roy, teamworkarts, in Delhi. The way it happened is actually a very typical network kind of story. It wasn’t planned, it simply happened. Vicky Roy, our Janwaar Castle documentary fotographer, was posting pictures of our Rural Changemaker campaign he had shot on facebook. Sanjoy saw the pics, added a comment and asking for details of the boy. So I came into the play, I’ve met Sanjoy and he provided a scholarship without being asked … The power of pull! THANK YOU Sanjoy!

Now the time has come!
In a few days Shivraj will leave Janwaar – he feels sad and excited.
I think tears will flow when I’ll pick him up.

With the help of Bharti and Mridul Batra, from Prakriti, we designed a customized program for him. Sending him to just another school after having completed 8th grade in a local government school didn’t seem the best thing to do. So we hope with this program he will develop his skills further, improve in basic things and find out what he is interested in most. Let’s see.

Shivraj became the silent leader of Janwaar Castle. From very early on he was a very helpful hand in what ever we did. Without being asked he took responsibility and he got things done. Silently and humbled. Never in the front row. Accepted by everybody – the adults and the kids.

Over the last year he’s been growing to a real leader. He translates whenever needed in the best way he can, he helps the younger ones when they are looking for help and he is eager to learn. In him we truly have someone whom we can count on. His smile is sometimes a bit naughty and he keeps us on the track in case we forget to walk our talk πŸ™‚

I am probably more excited than he is …

For his ongoing stay we need more funding … please go through the PDF to learn more about him and his program!

    Hi Ulrike,

This is a great beginning of a completely new template of ‘learning over education’, let’s see where it ends and how Shivraj shapes up as an individual.

I really would like to thank Sanjoy, Bharti and everyone else for making this happen.

Best of luck and all the love to Shivraj for the new beginning.

    Thanks,
    M2
